Moustakas, Hosmer to stay in Minors

Moustakas, Hosmer to stay in Minors

KANSAS CITY -- If you were expecting third baseman Mike Moustakas to materialize in the Royals' Major League lineup this season, don't count on it.

General manager Dayton Moore spiked that speculation on Friday when discussing the success this season of Moustakas at Double-A Northwest Arkansas and first baseman Eric Hosmer at Class A Wilmington.

They might move up a notch in the Minor League system, but there are no plans to get them to Kansas City in 2010.

"We're just going to let it play out and we'll assess it a month from now," Moore said. "They are not candidates to be on our Major League club at any time this year. That's an advance decision that we've made."

Moore also indicated there's no rush to bring Alex Gordon back to the Majors from Triple-A Omaha, where he's learning to play left and right field. Gordon is batting .361 with nine homers, 25 RBIs, but is still working on altering some aspects of his swing.

"The numbers are very good, the approach is not where we want it yet for long-term success," Moore said.
