Royals at the plate: Ross Gload tripled and scored a run in the sixth inning. Joey Gathright delivered a run-scoring single and David DeJesus doubled home Gathright during a two-run second off Jose Contreras.

White Sox at the plate: Josh Fields launched his first home run of the spring, a drive to left-center off Dewon Brazelton leading off the second. Luis Terrero and Eduardo Perez came up with two-run singles in the four-run eighth inning to tie the score at 5.

Royals on the mound: Brazelton made a strong start against the White Sox, allowing two singles and a double along with Fields' home run over three innings. The big right-hander struck out one.

White Sox on the mound: Contreras became the first White Sox starter to work four innings this spring, giving up two runs on five hits. Contreras fanned six, walked one, hit one and threw one wild pitch.

Cactus League records: Royals 4-3; White Sox 2-7.

Up next: The Royals are home in Surprise to host the Mariners on Thursday, while the White Sox make the short trip to Hi Corbett Field to take on the Rockies. The White Sox also have a "B" game at Hi Corbett Field in the morning against Colorado. Gavin Floyd starts the Cactus League contest, while Charlie Haeger will start the "B" game.
