Shealy, Royals break out bats

Royals at the plate: Ryan Shealy went 3-for-3 and drove in a run. David DeJesus, who went 2-for-3, led off the game with a single and stole his first base of the spring.

Angels at the plate: Garret Anderson went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Shea Hillenbrand stroked a two-run double in the second. Jeff Mathis, Orlando Cabrera and Casey Kotchman each contributed RBI doubles. Brandon Wood hit a two-run homer in the eighth.

Royals on the mound: Todd Wellemeyer allowed five runs on six hits and one walk in 2 2/3 innings in his third Cactus League appearance and first start. David Riske worked a flawless sixth, striking out one.

Angels on the mound: Starter John Lackey struck out five in 3 1/3 innings and yielded one run on six hits and a walk. Matt Wilhite retired Jason LaRue on a foul popout and struck out Angel Berroa with the bases loaded to end the fourth.

Cactus League records: Angels 10-5; Royals 6-8

Up next: Zach Greinke will start for the Royals on Wednesday against the Rockies at Surprise. Rodrigo Lopez will be the Rockies' starter. The Angels will start Kelvim Escobar against the Giants at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Russ Ortiz is San Francisco's probable starter.
