Rockies at the plate: Catcher Chris Iannetta knocked two doubles. Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki launched his second home run of the spring, a two-run shot in the first inning. Jeff Baker, who started at first base and moved to second, led off the fourth with a solo shot.
Royals at the plate: Alberto Callaspo hit a two-run homer in the Royals' three-run fourth inning. Joey Gathright tripled and Miguel Olivo doubled and drove in two runs.
Rockies on the mound: Starter Ubaldo Jimenez gave up three runs on three hits, with two walks, in three innings. Luis Vizcaino, the primary right-handed setup man, yielded three runs, including the Callaspo homer, in one inning. Non-roster right-hander Victor Zambrano threw two perfect innings.
Royals on the mound: Starter Brett Tomko gave up hits to the game's first two batters, the second being the Tulowitzki homer, and wound up giving up four hits and three runs in four innings. Brian Lawrence gave up a run on two hits in his two innings. He struck out two and walked one.
Cactus League records: Royals 3-3, Rockies 3-3.
Up next: Rockies fifth-starter candidate Franklin Morales, a left-hander, will start on Wednesday against the White Sox at Hi Corbett Field. Fourth starter candidate Jason Hirsh, a righty, will follow Morales. For the Royals, Gil Meche, Hideo Nomo and Jimmy Gobble are scheduled to throw against the Giants on Wednesday at Scottsdale Stadium.
