Royals at the plate:
Alberto Callaspo recorded the game's first hit: a double in the top of the first inning. Callaspo, who later singled and walked, scored on Alex Gordon's RBI single. With a single in the third, Mark Teahen had the second RBI.
Brewers at the plate:
Mike Cameron hit his second homer of the Cactus League season. It was a solo shot in the first. Ryan Braun extended his hitting streak to five games. He also scored a run. Joe Dillon hit the second homer of the game for the Brewers. It was a two-run shot in the eighth.
Royals on the mound:
Chin-hui Tsao had a rough time. In two-thirds of an inning, he gave up two hits and three runs. Starter John Bale looked solid, though. He worked four innings. He gave up three runs on six hits. Bale also issued a walk. Jorge De La Rosa followed Bale. De La Rosa worked three innings and gave up two runs, one of them unearned.
Brewers on the mound:
Right-hander Jeff Suppan had a shaky first inning. He gave up three hits, but just one run. He finished his three-inning outing with a statistical line that read: five hits, two runs, two walks and one strikeout. Five relievers followed Suppan, and none allowed a run.
Cactus League records:
Royals 5-5; Brewers 6-4.
Veteran right-hander Brett Tomko, an offseason pickup, will start for the Royals on Sunday, and Tomko will face Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster at Surprise Stadium in game that starts at 3:05 p.m CT. ... The Brewers split-squad takes on the Mariners at Maryville Baseball Park. Right-hander Claudio Vargas will start, and Vargas will face right-hander Miguel Batista in game scheduled to start at 3:05 p.m. CT. The A's will host a Brewers split-squad at 3:05 p.m. CT. Joe Blanton will start for the A's and Chris Narveson will start for the Brewers.
