Omaha jumped to a 6-0 lead en route to a 3-0 mark in the four-game series. Irving Falu put Omaha on top with a two-run single in the second while Johnny Giavotella added a two-run homer in the fourth. Jarrod Dyson was 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run. Max Ramirez recorded three hits and a walk. Ryan Verdugo (5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 4 SO) won a second straight. The series concludes with a matinee on Tuesday.

Jake Odorizzi set a franchise record with 11 strikeouts as the Naturals blanked Springfield. The righty scattered four hits and a walk over 7.0 innings. Patrick Keating followed with 2.0 scoreless innings and the Naturals tacked on three insurance runs in the eighth. Julio Rodriguez and John Whittleman each drove in a pair for Northwest Arkansas. Lorenzo Cain was 0-for-5 in the second game of a rehab stint.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (8-8)

HR: Whit Merrifield (1), Geulin Beltre (1), Brett Eibner (1)

Wilmington clubbed three home runs in a series-opening win at Salem. Whit Merrifield led off the game with a homer against rehabbing Red Sox hurler Daisuke Matsuzaka. Merrifield finished 3-for-4 with four runs scored while Cheslor Cuthbert was 4-for-5 with three RBI. Geulin Beltre and Brett Eibner homered for the first time at this level. Blue Valley Northwest grad Jason Adam (5.0 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO) leads the league with a 0.40 ERA (1 ER in 22.2 IP).

Kane County Cougars (9-9)

Lake County 11, Kane County 8

HR: Justin Trapp (2)

The Cougars dropped a matinee at home as Lake County scored four in the eighth. Leadoff hitter Justin Trapp led Kane County, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and six RBI. Murray Watts added a double and three runs. The series wraps up with a matinee on Tuesday.
