DeJesus iffy for Monday with rib injury

KANSAS CITY -- It is unknown whether Royals outfielder David DeJesus will play on Monday after sustaining a rib injury in Sunday's game. He is currently listed as day-to-day with a bruised right ribcage.

"Typically, with a rib injury, you don't know much until the next day," manager Trey Hillman said late Sunday night. "He was walking around and he was moving normal, but of course, swinging a bat and throwing might be different."

DeJesus hurt his rib in the first inning of Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. He was trying to score from second on a Jose Guillen single when he collided with catcher Jason LaRue. Both players fell to the ground, and LaRue held onto the ball. DeJesus left the game in the third inning.

DeJesus had been on fire for the Royals lately. He's hit .371 in his last 10 games, with six RBIs.
