KANSAS CITY -- Royals closer Jonathan Broxton remains in fourth place as the 2012 All-Star Game MLB.com Final Vote, sponsored by Firestone approaches the finish line. Social media-savvy Royals fans could still help him close the gap and make it two Royals in Tuesday's All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium.
After passing Angels pitcher Ernesto Frieri on Wednesday, Broxton still trails Texas' Yu Darvish, the White Sox' Jake Peavy and Baltimore's Jason Hammel in the American League Final Vote, with the updated standings announced Thursday morning by Major League Baseball. But, during the final four hours of voting -- from 11 a.m. CT to 3 p.m. CT on Thursday -- fans will be allowed to tweet their vote. And it will count.
Any tweet sent out during that four-hour span that includes a designated player hashtag will go toward that player's Final Vote total. Royals fans can use the hashtag #VoteBroxton to vote for the Kansas City closer. Fans can follow @MLB on Twitter for standings updates up until the polls close at 3 p.m. CT.
Of course, fans will still be able to vote an unlimited number of times online and using their phones. The Royals are offering a ticket discount for fans voting online at royals.com/votebroxton.
