Royals Minor League Report: Aug. 17

Omaha Storm Chasers (75-52)

Omaha settled for a 2-2 split at Las Vegas. Doug Davis struck out eight over 7.0 innings. The veteran allowed three runs on seven hits, including two solo homers. Former Royal Sean O'Sullivan pitched 7.0 innings to earn the win for the 51s. Mitch Maier hit a solo homer in the fourth for Omaha. He is batting .323 (10-for-31) with four home runs and 11 RBI over his last 10 games. The Storm Chasers return home tonight and can clinch the division title with a win over Nashville.

NW Arkansas Naturals (17-35 in second half, 54-68 overall)

NW Arkansas at Midland - Canceled due to rain

Friday's finale in Midland was washed away by rain. The game will not be made up. Northwest Arkansas begins a series at Frisco tonight.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (28-25 in second half, 57-66 overall)

Wilmington scored 10 in the second en route to a second straight win over Lynchburg. Wilmington recorded seven hits while sending 15 batters to the plate in the second. Nick Van Stratten doubled home a pair and is batting .538 (7-for-13) since joining the Blue Rocks. Matt Ridings worked 7.0 innings, limiting Lynchburg to an unearned run on three hits and a walk. He fanned seven while lowering his combined ERA with Kane County and Wilmington to 2.33 (22 ER in 85.0 IP).

Kane County Cougars (27-26 in second half, 61-62 overall)

Clinton and Kane County were scoreless into the 10th on Friday night, with the LumberKings taking a 2-1 decision. Justin Trapp recorded three hits, including a solo homer that brought Kane County to within a run. Tim Melville tossed 4.0 innings, allowing just one hit and two walks. He is returning from a hand injury that was suffered in May. Andrew Triggs followed with 4.0 perfect innings.

Idaho Falls Chukars (11-8 in second half, 28-29 overall)

Idaho Falls used a six-run sixth to win a second straight at Missoula. Rainier Bello recorded five RBI while finishing a home run shy of the cycle. Ethan Chapman added two hits and three RBI. Jericio Blanco was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

Burlington Royals (34-19)

Greeneville 5, Burlington 1

HR: None

Burlington fell short in the opener at Greeneville. Christian Binford allowed three runs (one earned), all in the second inning. Binford fanned four without a walk over 6.0 IP. Humberto Arteaga and Alex Hudak posted two hits apiece for the Royals.

Surprise Royals (17-28)

The Diamondbacks scored five in the ninth to pull away from the Royals in Surprise. John Lamb made his second start as he recovers from "Tommy John" surgery. The lefty allowed a run on a hit and two walks while retiring two batters. Jerrell Allen, Mark Donato and Ramon Torres posted two hits apiece for Surprise. Allen hit a solo homer in the sixth.
