Bradshaw named Minor League hitting coordinator
KANSAS CITY -- Terry Bradshaw, a long-time hitting coach for two of the Royals' affiliates, on Monday was named the organization's Minor League hitting coordinator.

Bradshaw was the hitting coach at Double-A Northwest Arkansas for the last four seasons and previously filled that job for Triple-A Omaha for five years.

He replaces Jack Maloof, who became the Kansas City hitting coach. Bradshaw was a candidate for the KC job before it was filled by Maloof and Andre David, who will be the assistant hitting coach.

"Terry has been an integral part in the success of our young Minor League hitters as they have progressed through our system and reached Kansas City," said Scott Sharp, the Royals' director of player development. "He now will have the ability to positively impact our hitters throughout all levels of the organization."

The Royals also hired Jose Castro to be the assistant Minor League hitting coordinator and Milt Thompson to be the outfield, bunting and baserunning coordinator.

Castro has been with the Seattle Mariners, serving as Minor League hitting coordinator for five years. He also served as the Mariners' interim hitting coach at the Major League level in 2010 and has been a professional hitting instructor for 24 years.

Thompson was the Houston Astros' Minor League roving outfield and baserunning instructor for the last two years. A veteran of 13 Major League seasons as a player, he also was the Philadelphia Phillies' hitting coach for five years including the 2008 World Series title season.

In addition, the Royals hired Felix Francisco as their special assignment scout/international and pro scouting.

Francisco had been with Houston as special assistant to the general manager/Latin American operations since November 2009. He previously worked for San Diego and Atlanta. He's also general manager of the La Romana club in the Dominican Winter League.
