Teaford dealing with shoulder soreness

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Inevitably, the first injury glitch of the Royals' camp has made its appearance.

Left-hander Everett Teaford has a sore shoulder, manager Ned Yost reported on Friday.

"Teaford has a little shoulder soreness, so we've backed him off a little bit. Nothing serious. We've backed him out of throwing for two or three days, then put him back in the program," Yost said.

Teaford threw batting practice two days ago, but was scratched from doing it again on Friday. He's a candidate for a starting or bullpen role. Last year in 18 games for the Royals, he was 1-4 with a 4.99 ERA.
