SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Left-hander Danny Duffy and right-hander Felipe Paulino have nearby stalls in the Royals' clubhouse, so it's easy for them to compare notes on their Tommy John surgeries of last summer.
"Everything's good, Duffy's good, too," Paulino said.
Duffy, who had his surgery on June 13, has started a throwing program in Spring Training.
"I'll be on my fourth side [session] tomorrow," Duffy said on Sunday. "Everything is working like a dream. No complaints."
Paulino had his ulnar collateral ligament replacement via surgery on July 3, so he's behind Duffy's pace.
"One week and I'll throw my first bullpen," Paulino said. "I'm two weeks behind Duffy, so whatever Duffy does, I just follow."
The Royals expect the two starting pitchers to be ready sometime around the All-Star break in July.
"We're here to help," Paulino said. "This is going to be a special year for us and for everybody."
