SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Three of the Royals' bullpen regulars from 2012 got into action on Tuesday, with positive results.
Closer Greg Holland pitched the ninth inning of the 8-2 win over the A's and, after a leadoff single, he retired three straight batters -- two on strikeouts, one on a foul popup.
"Holly was great; our pitching all the way around today was good," manager Ned Yost said.
Aaron Crow cruised through a perfect eighth inning with one strikeout.
Louis Coleman had the most trouble, giving up two singles, a walk and a double. But the A's got just one run as he got two outs with the bases loaded.
"Coleman did a good job," Yost said. "He got in trouble, but held the fort. That's what you want your relievers to do."
