Royals bringing KC touch to Classic play

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Six Royals are providing a Kansas City accent to the World Baseball Classic's second round at Marlins Park in Miami.

First baseman Eric Hosmer singled, stole second and scored a seventh-inning run for Team USA in a 7-1 victory over Puerto Rico on Tuesday night. Second baseman Irving Falu had a single for Puerto Rico.

Infielder Miguel Tejada was a pinch-hitter for the Dominican Republic in a 5-4 comeback victory over Italy. Tejada came up in the sixth inning with the bases loaded but lined into the third out to right field.

None of the Royals pitchers -- the USA's Tim Collins and the Dominican's Kelvin Herrera and Atahualpa Severino -- got into Tuesday's games.
