Royals debut new fan experience technology

KANSAS CITY, MO (April 24, 2013) - The Kansas City Royals and fan experience technology company Experience have partnered to deliver seat upgrade technology for Royals fans as part of MLB.com's At the Ballpark free app for iPhone, iPod touch and Android smartphones.  

After downloading the free At the Ballpark app, fans can select 'Kauffman Stadium' as their venue of choice. Royals fans will then be able to fulfill the experience they are looking for depending on their motivation for attending the game: work, family or just for fun. For example, fans may decide they want seats in the sun when the weather is cold; in the shade when the weather is hot; be next to the bullpen for a better chance at autographs; or simply access seats closer to the action to impress a date.

"Our goal is to help fans create lasting memories from their visits to the ballpark," said Michael Bucek, Royals Vice President-Marketing & Business Development. "With Experience, Royals fans gain a quick and easy way to upgrade their seats and enhance their trip to Kauffman Stadium."

Fans will be able to access the app to upgrade their seats beginning on April 26 when the Royals return to Kauffman Stadium for a 10-game homestand.

Experience and MLB Advanced Media, L.P. (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, announced a partnership in March 2013 to deliver seat and experience upgrade technology at participating ballparks. Fans may visit www.royals.com/upgrade to download the app, sign up for alerts when upgrades are available and learn more about the program.
