Rivera to interact with diverse group of Kansas Citians

|

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees would like to announce that Major League Baseball's all-time save leader, Mariano Rivera, has requested an opportunity to give back to other big league communities where he has performed during his 19-year career by meeting with a small group of fans during his final visit to each city. With this his final regular season stop in Kansas City, Rivera will meet with approximately 20 Kansas Citians tomorrow at 3:40 p.m. in the interview room on the clubhouse level at Kauffman Stadium.

The media is welcome to cover the event, but there are ground rules. The meet and greet is open to cameras, but Rivera will not be available for questions during the interaction because he is dedicating the entirety of the event to the families in attendance. All cameras and print media must remain in the back of the room while Mariano is meeting with the various individuals who have been selected to come and share their stories with the future Hall of Famer.   Please arrive in plenty of time because the interview room door will be closed at 3:40 to eliminate any distractions during the approximate 30-minute session. The New York Yankees will make every effort to make Rivera available to the media following his interaction with the invited guests.

The Royals are also planning to recognize Rivera's career with a brief tribute prior to Sunday's 1:10 p.m. series finale.
