Lambin signs with Royals' Triple-A club


ST. LOUIS -- Infielder Chase Lambin has signed a contract with the Royals' Triple-A Omaha club, the Sugar Land Skeeters team announced on Thursday.

Lambin, 33, was hitting .305 with five home runs and 13 RBIs in 24 games as a second baseman with the Texas independent league team. The Skeeters are managed by former Royals third baseman Gary Gaetti.

A career Minor Leaguer, Lambin last year played for Triple-A New Orleans, a Miami farm club, and hit .253 with eight homers and 32 RBIs. He's played 1,193 games since 2002 including a year in Japan, mostly at second base, third and shortstop, with a career average of .270, 121 homers and 528 RBIs.
