Short lefty Bartsch high on KC's wish list

KANSAS CITY -- Kyle Bartsch, the Royals' seventh-round selection on Friday, was 3-0 with a 3.12 ERA for the University of South Alabama this season. The left-handed pitcher had a .189 opponents' batting average against over 26 innings.

The 5-foot-10 pitcher is the Jaguars' career saves leader with 22, 12 of which came during his senior season. He recorded four straight saves from April 6-23.

Bartsch was named to the 2013 Sun Belt All-Conference Second Team.
