Royals Farmhand Louis Coleman Named to Pacific Coast League All-star Team

KANSAS CITY, MO (July 2, 2013) - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Kansas City Royals minor league relief pitcher Louis Coleman has been named to the PCL All-Star Team. Coleman and his PCL All-Star teammates will meet their counterparts from the International League in the Dolan Auto Group Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 17 at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nev.

Coleman, a 6-foot-4 right-handed pitcher, has gone 3-1 with a 1.44 ERA in 23 relief appearances for the Omaha Storm Chasers this season. He's recorded six saves and fanned 52 in 43.2 innings of work at the Triple-A level. The right-handed reliever is tied for the team lead in saves with Michael Mariot, while his 43.2 innings out of the bullpen are tops on the club.

He had an 11-day stint with the Royals at the Major League level this year, earning his second career big league win on May 30 in St. Louis, pitching a scoreless inning of relief. Coleman did not allow a run in four relief outings with Kansas City, which spanned 4.1 innings. This is the first All-Star selection at the professional level for Coleman, who was a fifth-round selection by the Royals in 2009 following his senior season at LSU.

The 26th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be broadcast live on MLB Network, the Armed Forces Network and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network.
