CHICAGO -- No player was elected to the Royals Hall of Fame in the 2013 balloting, the Royals announced on Friday.
In fact, no one came close to getting the required 75 percent of the votes cast by the 19 living Hall of Fame members, media members, Royals front-office staff and fans via online voting.
Outfielder Bo Jackson and catcher John Wathan were the top vote-getters, each with 32.5 percent. More than 10 percent was required to remain on the next ballot, in 2015, and those qualifiers were third baseman Kevin Seitzer (27.5 percent), catcher Darrell Porter and outfielder Al Cowens (each 17.5 percent) and pitcher Al Fitzmorris (15 percent).
The Hall's Veterans Committee, which considers the candidacy of non-player personnel and players no longer eligible in the regular vote, will meet in 2014.
