Bloomquist out with family emergency

|
KANSAS CITY -- Willie Bloomquist was scratched from the lineup before Friday's game. Bloomquist had to leave the ballpark to tend to a family emergency.

Bloomquist, who was scheduled to play third base, was replaced by Luis Hernandez, who had been in the lineup at shortstop.

Tony Pena got the start at shortstop for the Royals.

Bloomquist, who has played every position other than first base and catcher, hadn't missed a game since June 3 at Tampa Bay.
