Royals Charities will host the Royals 5K Run/Walk at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday, September 7. The event, which begins at 8 a.m. and features a course that takes runners around the Kauffman Stadium warning track, benefits Royals Charities.
Fans can register for the Royals 5K Run/Walk online at www.royals.com/run. The registration fee is $35. The event, USATF certified and chip timed, will be capped at 3,500 participants.
Fans may also register during packet pickup times, set for 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5 and Friday, September 6 at UltraMax Sports, located at 6911 Tomahawk in Prairie Village, Kan., or at Rivals Sports Bar at Kauffman Stadium from 6-7:45 a.m. the morning of the race.
All participants will receive one Hy-Vee Infield voucher, valued at $18, which may be redeemed for a ticket to a remaining Royals home game in 2013 (Sept. 8-22), as well as the opportunity to purchase additional discounted tickets. In addition, all participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and complimentary food and drinks following the race.
Runners and walkers are welcome to have family members come out to Kauffman Stadium to watch them participate.
Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in the 5K and to the top three finishers in each age bracket. Awards will be distributed following the race at Gate D. Visit www.royals.com/run for a list of age brackets.
In addition, fundraising is available for teams, individuals and schools with all monies raised staying in the Kansas City area. Donations may be made online at www.royals.com/run to support a specific runner, or participants may set up a personalized page through the online registration website to collect donations from family, friends and co-workers. Prizes will also be awarded for the most money raised by a team (must consist of at least five individuals) and individual participant.
