Royals place Omar Infante on 15-day D.L.


KANSAS CITY, MO (May 13, 2014) - The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have placed infielder Omar Infante on the 15-day disabled list with lower back disc irritation, retroactive to May 7. In a corresponding roster move, the Royals have selected the contract of infielder Pedro Ciriaco from Triple-A Omaha and added him to the 25-man roster. 

Ciriaco, 28, opened the year on Kansas City's 40-man roster and appeared in the April 2 game at Detroit as a pinch runner. He was designated for assignment on April 5. The veteran infielder was hitting .305 (18-for-59) with 6 doubles, a triple and a home run in 19 games with the Storm Chasers this season.
