Royals manager Ned Yost challenged the call, and after a review by the crew in New York, the call was overturned. Gordon game around to score and cut the Royals' deficit to 3-2 when the next hitter, Lorenzo Cain, singled to center.
Yost is now 5-2 this season on challenges.
In the seventh inning, the Orioles won a challenge when Cain hit a grounder up the middle, and Hardy's throw to first was ruled late by first-base umpire Brian O'Nora.
Manager Buck Showalter challenged the call and it was overturned on replay.
The Royals had already scored three runs in the inning on Gordon's three run homer -- his second of the game -- before the Orioles won the challenge.
