CHICAGO -- Alcides Escobar showed fairly quickly on Saturday that his left calf wasn't bothering him, at least not enough to affect his play.
Escobar, who exited Friday's 7-2 win over the White Sox following an eighth-inning double with what he described as a cramp, extended his hitting streak to a career-high 12 games with a second-inning single in Saturday's 9-1 win over Chicago.
Royals manager Ned Yost said before Saturday's game that Escobar would have to to prove his calf wasn't bothering him in pregame warmups to stay in the starting lineup.
Escobar did that and more. In addition to handling all of his fielding chances flawlessly, Escobar went 2-for-4 with a double.
