Omaha's seven-game winning streak was snapped as Albuquerque plated five in the ninth. Johnny Giavotella and Francisco Pena drove in two runs apiece. Bruce Chen had his best rehab start to date as he fanned 11 over 5.1 innings. Chen, who is celebrating his 37th birthday today, scattered two runs, three hits and a walk.

The Naturals rolled to a third straight win, finishing 3-1 vs. their in-state rivals. 19th-ranked Royals prospect Cheslor Cuthbert recorded three hits (two doubles), two RBI and two runs. Third-ranked Royals prospect Jorge Bonifacio added two hits, two RBI and two runs. He hit a solo homer in the seventh, with Angel Franco adding his own in the eighth. Mark Threlkeld was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Andy Ferguson struck out four while scattering two runs, eight hits and two walks over 7.2 innings.

The Blue Rocks enjoyed a third and final day of the Carolina League All-Star Break. They visit Myrtle Beach (Rangers) tonight.

The Chukars rode a five-run fifth to their first win of the year. Samir Duenez was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. DonAndre Clark and Pedro Gonzalez each added an RBI. Jake Newberry struck out six while holding Orem to two runs (one earned) on six hits and four walks over 5.1 innings.

Thursday is Opening Night in the Appalachian League, with Burlington at Pulaski (Mariners). Carlos Herrera is scheduled to start for the Royals. The 20-year old lefty was a combined 8-2 with the Dominican and Surprise Royals in 2013.
