KANSAS CITY -- Royals prospects Cheslor Cuthbert and Bubba Starling received Player of the Week honors Monday in their respective leagues.
Cuthbert, with Double-A Northwest Arkansas, earned the Texas League honor this week behind a .429 average (12-for-28), and five extra-base hits (four doubles, one homer). He is ranked No. 19 among the Royals' top prospects.
With the promotion of third-base prospect Hunter Dozier to Northwest Arkansas, Cuthbert, who has played 58 games at third this year, is in the process of moving to second base.
Starling, the Royals' first pick of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft and their No. 7-ranked prospect, collected four straight multi-hit games with Class A Advanced Wilmington, including a go-ahead home run Sunday, for the Carolina League award. He finished the week with a .474 batting average (9-for-19).
The outfielder's big week nudged his average above the Mendoza Line to .205.
