The lefty allowed just one hit before his final frame, a solo homer by former Royal Adam Moore. 15th-ranked Royals prospect Christian Colon was 3-for-4 with a run for Omaha, extending his hitting streak to 12 games (.396). Whit Merrifield added two hits and a run. He has hit in eight straight games (.459, 17-for-37).
NW Arkansas Naturals (3-3 second half, 28-48 overall)
The Naturals had Monday off as the first day of a two-day Texas League All-Star Break. The All-Star Game is tonight in North Little Rock, home of the Arkansas Travelers. Northwest Arkansas will be represented by pitcher Andrew Triggs, infielders Orlando Calixte and Cheslor Cuthbert, and outfielders Lane Adams and Jorge Bonifacio. Outfielder Whit Merrifield was selected but will not participate as he was promoted to Omaha.

Wilmington produced seven extra-base hits in a second straight win over Frederick. Seventh-ranked Royals prospect Bubba Starling hit a solo shot in the first, his second homer in as many at-bats. He finished 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs. The reigning Carolina League Player of the Week has five straight multi-hit games (.478, 11-for-23). 16th-ranked Royals prospect Zane Evans was 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, a walk and three runs. Cam Gallagher posted three RBI, including a two-run home run. 11th-ranked Royals prospect Christian Binford scattered three runs and eight hits over 6.2 innings. He fanned six without a walk.

Frank Schwindel was 2-for-4 with an RBI double. Chad Johnson reached base four times (two singles, two walks). Humberto Arteaga added a pair of singles. He is ranked 18th among Royals prospects by MLB.com.
