Wilmington no-hit for second straight contest

KANSAS CITY -- The Wilmington Blue Rocks must be wondering where their next hit is coming from.

The Royals' Class A Advanced farm club in the Carolina League was no-hit for the second straight night on Friday by the Lynchburg Hillcats, an Atlanta affiliate.

The latest no-hitter was thrown at the Blue Rocks by Cody Scarpetta, who went seven innings, and Benino Pruneda, who worked the final two innings. Each issued one walk in the 5-0 win.

On Thursday, the Lynchburg pitchers were Lucas Sims (seven innings) and Alex Wilson (two innings). They combined for six walks in the 5-1 victory. Wilmington scored a run in the fifth on a walk, a passed ball, an error and a groundout.
