Omaha lost a back-and-forth opener at Iowa in 10 innings. Carlos Peguero and Francisco Pena hit back-to-back homers in the second, with Peguero's a three-run shot. Peguero finished with four RBI. Johnny Giavotella added three hits, including a double. Starter Sugar Ray Marimon held the Cubs to two runs (one earned) on six hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out four without issuing a walk.

Northwest Arkansas lost a matinee finale to finish a six-game Texas swing at 3-3. They scored both of their runs in the fourth. Mark Threlkeld tripled home Jorge Bonifacio, then scored on a Micah Gibbs double. Reigning Texas League Player of the Week Lane Adams doubled twice, extending his hitting streak to seven games (.400, 12-for-30). Matt Murray turned in 3.0 scoreless innings of relief. The Naturals are off tonight before opening a homestand vs. Midland (Athletics).

Wilmington lost on a 10th-inning walk-off as Ryan Dent homered over the left field wall at Salem Memorial Ballpark. Miguel Almonte turned in a quality start, striking out four while yielding three runs, six hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. Michael Antonio was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Bubba Starling added an RBI single.

Idaho Falls broke open a 2-2 game with seven runs in the eighth. Robert Pehl's three-run shot gave the Chukars a 5-2 lead. Pehl posted four RBI. He was KC's 11th-round pick in June. Corey Toups joined Pehl in hitting his first professional home run, a solo shot in the third. Jake Newberry struck out five while holding Ogden to two runs over 6.0 innings.

Angelo Castellano's walk-off single capped a late rally by the Royals. Chase Vallot and D.J. Burt hit solo homers in the first and third, respectively. Vallot was selected 40th overall as a supplemental pick this June while Burt was KC's fourth-rounder. Lee's Summit North grad Brandon Dulin started a five-run eighth with a two-run blast.
