ST. PETERSBURG -- Lorenzo Cain has settled into the Royals' leadoff spot quite nicely.

Cain had another big game on Tuesday night, with four hits, including a triple, a walk and two runs scored in a 4-3 loss to the Rays.

Put in the No. 1 spot after Nori Aoki was injured, Cain has a .344 (21-for-61) average there since June 22.

"Just another spot for me. Just trying to do what I can to get on base, no matter where I'm at," Cain said.

This was the seventh four-hit game of Cain's career. After an 0-for-9 start to this trip at Minnesota, he's hit in all five games at Cleveland and Tampa Bay.

"Real hot," manager Ned Yost said. "He's been swinging the bat pretty well."

Well, yeah. In his streak, Cain is 10-for-22 (.455) with two doubles, a triple, four runs, two RBIs and four stolen bases. That's boosted his team-high overall average to .322.

"I've been swinging the bat well. Just staying in my approach, middle and the other way, and the hits have been falling for me," he said.

Cain's fourth hit started a ninth-inning rally that produced two runs but fell short.

"We kept fighting to the end," he said.
