Omaha rolled to a series-opening win at Colorado Springs. Matt Fields hit a two-run homer in the fifth, and Francisco Pena recorded his own in the seventh. Pena is tied for second in the Pacific Coast League in home runs, with Fields tied for fifth. Pena added a double, finishing with three RBIs and three runs. Justin Maxwell added two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Chris Dwyer, who allowed two hits and an earned run in four innings, made the start, and Casey Coleman picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Jason Adam posted seven shutout innings to lead the Naturals past Springfield. The Overland Park native and Royals No. 8 prospect struck out seven while scattering five hits and two walks. Max Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run homer and two runs. Justin Trapp added an RBI single.

Reigning Carolina League Pitcher of the Week Glenn Sparkman tossed six shutout frames as Wilmington won its opener vs. Salem. Sparkman now has thrown 13 scoreless innings over his last two starts, and he has posted a 0.92 ERA over his last 10 appearances (five earned runs in 48 2/3 innings). Seventh-ranked Royals prospect Bubba Starling recorded the go-ahead RBI in the fifth, finishing 3-for-4. Michael Antonio scored the second run on a Ramon Torres sac fly in the sixth. Torres, recently promoted from Lexington, is ranked 20th among Royals prospects by MLB.com.

Lexington dropped to 0-2 in the four-game set with its loss to Hagerstown. Cody Reed, who threw 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits, while walking four and striking out five, took the loss. Andrew Brockett tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings. Fred Ford recorded two hits for the Legends.

Idaho Falls swept a four-game set at Billings. Brawlun Gomez went 3-for-5 on Friday with four RBIs, and Ryan O'Hearn added two hits and two runs, boosting his league-leading average to .434 (33-for-76). Eric Stout tossed three scoreless innings for the win in relief. The Chukars will continue their road trip at Great Falls (White Sox).
