KANSAS CITY, MO -- The Kansas City Royals announce that first baseman Eric Hosmer is the Royals Majestic Player of the Month for July, while right-handed reliever Wade Davis is the club's Pitcher of the Month. The player award is determined by a combined fan and media vote, with the pitcher award voted on by local media.
Hosmer entered today leading the Major Leagues with a .377 batting average in July (26-for-69). He also ranked second among American League players and sixth in the Majors with a .436 on-base percentage. The 24-year old compiled a career-best 16-game streak from June 30 to July 20. This is the sixth career Royals Player of the Month award for Hosmer and first since he won three straight from June to August, 2013.
Davis has held opponents scoreless over 10 outings in July (10.0 innings) and 12.0 straight innings overall. The 28-year old struck out 13 batters while holding opponents to a .121 average (4-for-33). He becomes the first player or pitcher to win multiple awards this year, having earned his first Royals Pitcher of the Month honor in May.
