Royals broadcasts drawing strong numbers

PHOENIX -- Royals telecasts have been the thing to watch this summer in Kansas City, according to TV provider Fox Sports.

Fox, citing ratings date from Nielsen for the period March 31 through July 24, said that Royals were the highest-rated and most-viewed primetime programming in KC.

Royals games averaged a 5.93 household rating and nearly 56,000 households in prime time (7 to 11 p.m. CT), 13 percent higher than second-ranked KCTV-CBS (5.27 rating). Third was KMBC-ABC (5.21).

The Royals' overall average of 5.7 ranks eighth in Major League Baseball. Their pace is 4 percent behind 2013's record season.
