KANSAS CITY, MO (August 7, 2014) - The Kansas City Royals continue to be active on and off the field as the club returns for a seven-game homestand set for August 8-14 against the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics. Designated hitter Billy Butler's Country Breakfast headlines the community events, as he thanks supporters of his Hit-It-A-Ton program to benefit the Bishop Sullivan Center on Saturday, August 9. Royals Charities will also hold a 50/50 Raffle every night and partners with the MLB Players Alumni Association to host concourse auctions during the Giants series.
 
Friday, August 8 - San Francisco Giants vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Stars of the Classroom - The Royals join the Missouri Lottery to honor outstanding educators through the Missouri Lottery Stars of the Classroom recognition program. Prior to six Royals games throughout the season, the Missouri Lottery and the Royals celebrate the achievements of top teachers from six school districts in the metro area.
  • All-Star Scholars Recognition - Prior to the game, the Royals will recognize the 2014 class of the MLB Royals All-Star Scholars program. The Scholars have the opportunity for a $2,500 per-year scholarship, renewable up to four years at any two- or four-year college/university in Missouri or Kansas. The 2012 and 2013 classes will also be on-hand to welcome the new scholars. The students were selected from the 20/20 Leadership program, which serves students from moderate- to low-income families to educate and expose them to community issues, develop personal and leadership skills and build community-wide relationships. The program was created from proceeds from the 2012 All-Star Game in Kansas City.
  • Heart & Hustle Award - The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association honors Alex Gordon as the Royals recipient of the Heart and Hustle Award, which recognizes players who best demonstrate a passion for the game.
  • 50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson - A portion of the proceeds from the nightly Royals Charities fundraiser will benefit ALS Association Keith Worthington Chapter. www.royals.com/5050.
  • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning. 

Saturday, August 9 - San Francisco Giants vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.

  • Billy's Country Breakfast - Royals designated hitter/first baseman Billy Butler and his wife, Katie, will host Billy's Country Breakfast at O'Hara High School, located at 9001 James Reed Road in Kansas City, Mo. The ticket-only event is for donors to the Hit-It-A-Ton program to benefit the Bishop Sullivan Center. Butler and several Royals teammates will sign autographs and take part in a wiffle ball game with the kids beginning at 10 a.m. The Butlers created the Hit-It-A-Ton program to benefit the Bishop Sullivan Center pantries and community kitchen in 2008.
  • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.

Sunday, August 10 - San Francisco Giants vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

  • Gordon to Meet Young Fundraisers for Childhood Cancer - Alex Gordon will meet children who accepted his challenge to host a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation this summer. From 11-11:30 a.m. behind the Royals dugout, pre-selected children who held lemonade stands will get to meet the three-time Gold Glove Award winner. Additionally, the children will be the first to receive the Alex Gordon bobbleheads that will be distributed to the first 10,000 fans, courtesy of Pepsi, as well pizza from Papa John's prior to the game.
  • Royals Alumni Autograph Session - Fans have the opportunity to meet former Royals prior to each Sunday home game in the Royals Hall of Fame. Two Royals Alumni members will sign autographs for fans from 12:15 p.m. to game time.
  • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.

Monday, August 11 - Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.
 
Tuesday, August 12 - Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Braden's Hope Calendar Shoot - Several Royals players will take part in a calendar photo shoot at Kauffman Stadium beginning at 1 p.m. Each player will be paired with a youngster battling childhood cancer for a series of photos at various locations throughout the stadium. The 2015 calendar will be available in September with proceeds benefiting Braden's Hope for Childhood Cancer. 

Wednesday, August 13 - Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Dream Factory - Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.

Thursday, August 14 - Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.
