Omaha won a wild opener, scoring eight in the ninth to build a 16-5 lead, with Colorado Springs scoring four in the home half. Francisco Pena and Carlos Peguero posted three-run homers. Paul Janish had three hits, two RBI and two runs. Liam Hendriks (7.0 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 7 SO) picked up his second win in as many starts with Omaha.

Christian Binford had his first rough start at the Double-A level, allowing seven runs, 10 hits and two walks with four K's over 6.2 innings. 2014 first-rounder and sixth-ranked Royals prospect Brandon Finnegan tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in his Double-A debut. Juan Graterol singled home both Northwest Arkansas runs in the eighth. Lane Adams made his first appearance with the Naturals since July 6, stealing two bases to give him 31 on the year.

The Blue Rocks were held to one run in a three-game set against the league's top team. Errors hurt Wilmington as the Pelicans plated four unearned runs off of third-ranked Royals prospect Sean Manaea (5.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO). Ramon Torres doubled, tripled and scored a run. He's ranked 20th among Royals prospects by MLB.com.

Dominique Taylor's 10th inning single scored Humberto Arteaga, lifting Lexington to an opening win. Arteaga also scored the tying run in the eighth. Alec Mills held Greenville scoreless on two hits over 6.0 innings, striking out six without a walk. Jose Miguel Rodriguez worked 4.0 innings for the win.

Idaho Falls earned a rubber game win at home. Brooks Pounders tossed 4.0 scoreless innings in a rehab start, fanning four along with two hits and a walk. Robert Pehl posted three hits, two runs and an RBI. Samir Duenez and Corey Toups drove in two runs apiece.

The Royals lost game one at Johnson City. 2012 third-round pick Colin Rodgers made his first appearance since "Tommy John" surgery, allowing two runs in the first. 2014 third-rounder Carter Hope struck out three while yielding three runs over 5.0 innings. Amalani Fukofuka and Jose Martinez each drove in a run for Burlington.
