MINNEAPOLIS -- A Royals instant replay challenge was unsuccessful in the fourth inning of Friday night's 6-5 win and, as a result, the Twins scored a run.

Royals manager Ned Yost contended that catcher Salvador Perez's snap throw to Mike Moustakas caught Trevor Plouffe off third base. However, the New York office reported that umpire Chris Segal's safe call stands.

So Plouffe remained at third and scored as Oswaldo Arcia grounded into a double play, cutting the Royals' lead to 5-3.
