Buddy Baumann tossed five shutout stanzas, striking out nine while allowing just two hits and a walk. Chris Dwyer earned a relief win, holding the 51s scoreless over 2 1/3 innings.

Matt Murray scattered two runs and seven hits over six innings, striking out four without a walk. Sixth-ranked Royals prospect Brandon Finnegan posted two scoreless innings, lowering his combined ERA at Wilmington and Northwest Arkansas to 0.79 (2 ER in 22 2/3 IP).

Wilmington moved to 2-0 in the series as Cody Stubbs singled home Raul Mondesi in the 10th. The Blue Rocks built a 4-0 lead in the first, including Cam Gallagher's three-run homer. Mondesi doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored twice. He is ranked first among Royals prospects by MLB.com. Jonathan Dziedzic fanned five and walked none, holding the Dash to two runs over six innings. Zeb Sneed was the winning pitcher for a second straight night.

Jake Newberry went the distance in defeat, striking out seven while allowing three runs and seven hits over six innings. The Chukars scored two runs in the first, second and third inning in game two. Downes and Corey Toups hit back-to-back home runs. Luis Valenzuela had two hits, two runs and an RBI. Matthew Strahm tossed three scoreless innings, striking out four with one walk. Sam Lewis struck out six over the final 2 1/3 innings, picking up the win.
