DENVER -- Rockies manager Walt Weiss took a shot at getting his team a rally out of a replay challenge in the eighth inning Wednesday night against the Royals, but it was not to be.

Nolan Arenado's fly ball down the right-field line, with no outs and one on base, landed just outside the foul line, although the splash (rain had begun to fall at Coors Field) might have looked like a chalk splash. But umpires checked, and the call stood.

The Rockies didn't score in the eighth, but it didn't matter. They won, 5-2.
