Royals Minor League pitcher Adam Bostick was handed a 50-game suspension on Thursday after a second positive test in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment program.
Bostick is currently playing for Triple-A Omaha. His suspension is effective immediately.
Signed by the Royals to a Minor League contract this offseason, the 26-year-old left-hander went 3-3 with a 3.05 ERA in 39 games (one start) for the Mets' Double-A and Triple-A affiliates in 2009. For his eight-year Minor League career, Bostick -- originally a sixth-round Draft pick by the Marlins in '01 -- sports a 4.25 ERA in 161 games (108 starts).
